Your questions Answered here

Please find below some of the most common questions…

How old do I need to be to climb?

The climbing arena is for anyone aged 4 and up. There is no upper age limit. Special sessions also run for Toddlers. Look out for our Toddler Climb sessions at your local centre.

Do I need to book as well if my children are climbing or can I just come along and watch?

If you don’t fancy climbing there is no need to book an adult climber as well, you can come and watch from our cafe where we serve delicious home cooked food and drinks. Or if you are with family or friends, you can come into the arena and help them climb by ‘clipping’ them in. Ask for further details in the briefing session.

How long is a climbing session?

Sessions usually consist of one hour in the arena, with 55 minutes climbing and 5 minutes to remove harnesses and exit the arena in the arena. The introduction, harness fitting and safety briefing will take place prior to this.

For example, if your session is booked for 9:30am, you will need to arrive in time to check in at reception, be harnessed and briefed ready to climb at 9:30am.

You will have your harness fitted and then there will be an introduction and ten minute safety briefing before going into the arena on the hour. The session in the arena will last for 55 minutes of climbing and 5 minutes at the end to remove harnesses

The exception is the 9:00am session which consists of a 15 minute briefing, 40 minutes climbing and 5 minutes to remove harnesses.

Do I need to book in advance?

We strongly advise booking in advance especially for busy times such as weekends and school holidays. However, you are welcome to ‘rock up’ and if there is space, you will be able to book in and climb.

Is there much for the 4-5 year olds in the climbing arena?

Yes, there are several climbs that they will be able to try out, although we don’t expect 4 year olds to be able to do all the climbs.

Is there an upper age limit?

No.

Is the climbing supervised?

Yes. There are staff in the arena to supervise the climbing. We also allow parents and friends into the arena to help ‘clip’ in others in their group.

What should I wear?

Clothes you would be comfortable climbing in and no strappy tops especially for our smaller climbers who will be wearing a full body harness. Loose fitting clothing should ideally be removed or at least secured, i.e. cardigans buttoned up and headscarves tucked into tops. Footwear should be trainers, or a similar fully foot encompassing shoe with adjustable tightness  i.e. NO flip flops, sandals, crocs, heelys, climbing shoes or dolly shoes.

What is the Leap of Faith?

You climb a ladder up the Leap of Faith until you reach the platform.  Once standing on the platform you then jump off to catch hold of the grab bag or trapeze handle.  Depending on your level of confidence we can move the bag/handle closer to you or further away.  You must be 1.1m tall to try the Leap of Faith.
