Fun for children
Our birthday parties feature an hour of climbing, full safety briefing, personal party area and delicious snacks - Plus, Rock Up birthday parties will have the children burning off their energy, having fun and staying connected with their friends. At Rock Up, our kids birthday parties are designed for children of all ages and abilities, from those who have never touched a climbing wall to those already comfortable with heights. What's also unique about Rock Up is our dizzying challenges (Stairway To Heaven, Leap of Faith, double Speed Climb walls) and our brand new Interactive Climbing adventure will keep the party moving with a climbing treasure hunt on our walls.
Relaxation for parents
Our birthday parties have been designed to simplify the set-up and answer all your questions. We've got it all covered so you too can relax and enjoy the party.
>Safety is prioritized with our auto-belaying system, on-site briefing and Rock Up team members monitoring in the arena.
>We'll set the table and prepare your delicious party snacks for you.
>We provide invitation cards for you to download and share with the party guests.
>Extra add-ons and upgrades are available to really get your kid's birthday party off the ground!
For younger children (4/5 years old), try our Mini Climbers packages which allow them to finish their hour of activity in our play area.
How It Works
💂 When you arrive you'll have 30 minutes before the start of your activity. Please go to reception to sign-in and a member of the Rock Up team will show you to your party area. Your group will then be taken to the briefing room to begin your safety briefing with anyone else in your session. There is no safety briefing for Soft Play parties.
🧗 After the briefing you'll be led into the climbing arena where you'll enjoy a full 1 hour session of adventure! This is your chance to explore, burn off some energy and try our incredible Vertical Challenges. If you're looking to add more to your climbing adventure, speak to a member of the Rock Up team.

🎂 After your activity has finished you'll be led back to your party area where you can enjoy a delicious selection of food & drink (chosen by you) and you can sing songs, open presents & present a cake if you have brought one along.
You'll have 30 minutes to yourselves where a member of the Rock Up team will make sure you have exactly what you need to make the party truly special.
Good to know:
- No prior experience or special equiptment needed, we'll provide it all!
- Comfortable clothing recommended .
- We have parties for all ages & abilities, but regular climbing parties are for ages 4 and up.
- Food selection & add-ons can be selected during the booking process
- We'll phone you a few days before the party to confirm everything & make any amendments you may need.

How to find us
Public transport. We are a 5 min walk away from Five Ways train station. For more transport info please refer to the Broadway Plaza website.
Car park entrance is located at the front of Broadway Plaza on Ladywood Middleway. We can redeem parking for up to 3 hours via a tablet on reception.
Practical Information
Our climbing sessions last 90mins - includes a 30min safety briefing at your session start time.Dress comfortably, but you will be unable to climb in open-toed or high-heeled shoes.
Long hair must be tied back.
We require at least 1 adult spectator for every 4 children. Please add when booking.

Visited here for a kids 7th birthday party and my son thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The staff were really friendly and there was plenty of space for parents. It looked really clean and safety was a priority for the team.
Staff were amazing, looked after him all the way around. Softplay was ideal for the younger kids while the older ones climb. Highly recommended.

Explorers are an active lot, and have already tried their hands at lots of activities so an evening climbing to them didn't seem like a big deal, then we arrived at Rock Up. Fantastic climbs, fun races, challenging obstacles and the stairway to heaven!
They loved it and we are now talking about going back!
Really enjoyed it here! Different walls/routes for different abilities. Don’t need to have any climbing experience. Just clip into a free wall and off you go! Safety /instruction brief beforehand. Staff were really helpful and friendly. My daughter got scared half way up and the instructor came and really helped her. She got to the top after that.
I’ve recommended this place to numerous people now.

What age can children wall climb at Rock Up?
Standard Climbing is available for age 4 and up with fun routes designed for all size. Our Toddler Climb & Play tickets are suitable up to 5 years

How long does a session last?
Climbing Sessions at Rock Up last around 90 minutes. The first half hour is for the guests to arrive and receive their safety briefing. The following 55mins are spent in our climbing arena. However, you can purchase an additional 30mins of climb time* online or during your session.
Soft Play sessions are stay and play sessions during the week in term time. Meaning you can pay once and play all day! At the weekends and during school holidays our soft play sessions typically last for 2 hours. Parties at Rock Up last 2 hours in total. The first 30 minutes is for guests to arrive and receive their safety briefing. The following hour is spent on their activity and the final 30 minutes is spent in the party area where they can enjoy a mountain of refreshments.

Yes! Climbing is only part of the adventure at Rock Up Birmingham! We also have:

Is wall climbing at Rock Up suitable for beginners?
Yes. Rock Up is perfect for first-time climbers!
· Our climbing walls are progressive, from easy beginner zones to more technical routes.
· Our team is on hand to brief and assist you.
· We also offer NICAS climbing courses for 4-5 years and 6-12 years for those who want to progress.
Do I need to bring any special equipment to climb?
No. Everything you need to enjoy our wall climbing is included. We provide the harness, and that’s all you need. Just wear comfortable clothing.
You will be unable to climb in climbing shoes, high heeled shoes or open-toe footwear.
Is wall climbing safe for children?
Absolutely - safety is our top priority for all ages.
We use automatic belay devices to keep you secure. Climbers clip in to access the wall, allowing them to climb safely and descend gently. With a weight range of 35lbs to 287lbs, they ensure a smooth experience for climbers of all shapes & sizes.
Our team members explain everything during a mandatory safety briefing before entering the climbing area and monitor safety throughout the session. Parents can relax - everything’s designed for children to feel confident and secure.
Are we located in the Clear Air Zone?
No. Broadway Plaza in Birmingham is outside the city's Clean Air Zone. However, you may need to pass through the Clean Air Zone to find us from where you are, so please use a journey planner to see if you will enter the zone - which is the area within the A4540 Middleway Ring Road.

Contact us
We could only see children climbing when we arrived, so we thought this would be too easy for adults. However, it was very challenging and we were unable to complete some of them! We were a group of 4 adults and 2 children and had lots of fun, it was a very enjoyable afternoon and we left with a huge smile and aching arms. All the staff were very friendly and helpful:) they made the experience even funnier.
